The 1997-98 NBA season was the Mavericks' 18th season in the NBA. The Mavericks continued to struggle as General Manager Don Nelson took over as coach. After going on a 3-0 start, the Mavericks lost ten consecutive games in November. Dallas finished fifth in the Midwest Division with a 20-62 record. Michael Finley led the Mavericks with 21.5 points, 4.9 assists, and he also led the league with 41.4 minutes per game. In November, forward A.C. Green broke the NBA record of most consecutive games played, breaking Randy Smith's record, which was 906 consecutive games. ==Offseason==
